The Lyons Business and Professional Association has not always been what it is today. This group or organization began back in the 1920s linking a few businessmen with one another. The group was small but it was the start to get the ball rolling up here on the North end. This organization was split from the businesses that were located in downtown Clinton.
The boundary line between the two towns was marked by what we know as "The Big Tree" which was said to be located on 2nd Street and 13th Ave North. The group has since grew and changed its name from The Lyons Business Club to the Lyons Retail Bureau.
As the 1990s brochure states:
"The big tree is now but a memory. The exact location and size of the tree are controversial facts today. But we know this landmark once divided the towns of Lyons and Clinton. We use the tree in our logo to celebrate the roots our forefathers put down and our continued growth within the city of Clinton."
Then in the 80s the organization changed its name once-again which we know today as the Lyons Business and Professional Association. The group currently has 49 members throughout the neighborhood. Take a look at the members tab to see all of our current members.

Our Past
There has been many businesses and people that have taken part in the organization throuhgout the years.
To the right is one example of past board of directors and board members that were a part of the LBPA back in 1998. This article also lists the many members that were within the organization.
Our Past Events
To the left you will find a newspaper clipping highlighting the first ever Main Avenue Craft Show. What began in 1995 has now grown into what is today. The craft show is a Summer event that is held in Four Square Park which allows the community to come up and visit the Lyons Neighborhood.
Our Past Events
Along with the Main Avenue Craft Show, The Frontier Day Festival was also hosted in Four Square Park. This festival served as a community wide event that brought people together to have a fun and relaxing day.
The festival eventually grew into a week long event that tied-in all of Main Avenue with sidewalk sales and specials. The festival was one for the record books however it has since ended over 10 years ago. There are still many fond memories of the parade, walking exhibits and store fronts that participated.
Frontier Day Festival was one for the young and old.
Our Past Events
The Christmas walk that began on the avenue back in 1985 was also a community wide event that brought friends and families up to the Lyons District.
This event connected not only the businesses that housed store fronts on Main Avenue but connected other groups and organizations throughout the city.
Employees and staff members of the businesses along with student organizations, church groups and other volunteers sat, sang and danced in the windows each year.
The Christmas Walk has since dissolved but many hope it will one day return and connect everyone throughout the town - together once again.

The holiday train has since stopped up in the Lyons Neighborhood twice and have given the community a reason to come out and celebrate the season.
The holiday train came complete with vendors out with apple cider and popcorn. There was also a fireworks show after the train departed.
Event though the Christmas walk has ended, we are hoping to soon bring the event back to the Lyons Neighborhood once again.
